Prison Project - SYMC Seattle Update
"Salutations to Shri Guru. In order to receive the true understanding of the world,
(I consider you to be) my father, my mother, my brother, and my God."
(Translation of verse # 35 of Sri Guru Gita, The Nectar of Chanting, page 16). It is with this understanding that Swami Muktananda established the Siddha Yoga Prison Project in 1979, in order to bring the
teachings and the grace of the Siddha Yoga Masters to incarcerated seekers.
This glorious seva (selfless service) supports the Siddha Yoga teachings and practices
for sevites as well as for our incarcerated seekers. The Prison Project continues with
the intention and blessings of Gurumayi Chidvilasananda, our Siddha Guru, and is an
expression of her respect and love for all humanity.
Sevites from our Center are currently visiting four facilities in Washington State,
located at Monroe, Stafford Creek, McNeil Island, and the Washington Correction Center
for Women (WCCW). An introductory program was offered at McNeil Island on June 30, 2007.
And earlier this year a Meditation Pilot Project was conducted at WCCW. Sevites
will continue to work with the new chaplain for regular visits.
If you are interested in learning more about the Seattle Siddha Yoga Prison Project,
please send an email to

Information Board at our Center.
If you wish to contribute books by Gurumayi or Swami
Muktananda, there is a donation bin in the community room at the
Center. We welcome new sevites, and we welcome your prayers for the
continued thriving of this precious seva.
